I just compleated a 2800 mi. trip pulling my 9000 lb. trailer. The question I have is this. I pulled a couple of long twistie and steep grades 8%. The temp gauge would start to rise to I'm guessing, around 205 to 210. Not bad, considering the torture the poor Cummings was going through getting 16000 lbs. of truck and trailer to the top.

About 3/4 the way up this last pull, the air was off, and I thought I heard the fan roaring away. Even though I was still pulling hard the temp fell to the normal range. I don't ever recall hearing this before. Is there any way to check the fan

temp control for lock up?:{

As long as it roars it should be working. Pulling 16000 should kick in anyway. But that depends on how hot it was outside. But 210 is nothing to worry about. I installed a Hayden fan clutch. Also blew the debree out of the radiator. I was able to get the fan to roar with the air on in city traffic. Was hauling nothing. My temp hit 190. Outside air temp 91.

Roger,

You just checked it. This is exactly the way the fan clutch is supposed to work. Yours is good.
