I have to rebuild my getrag, but have also noticed that my flywheel might be wrapped. when letting in the clutch it grabs so you cannot get a smooth start.

Can these flywheels be turned? if I were to replace the clutch and maybe the pressure plate what would you recommend. I do plan I towing, but don't have several thousand for a clutch/pp setup

May not be the clutch. Heavy towing I have difficulty getting rolling. Spring wrap and other slack will allow a lunging ocillation to start. I have found that a start with as little throttle as possible and useing low gear will usually get me going. But yes the flywheel can be faced. Usually the pressure plate will be warped if the clutch is.

I have the same truck as you, 93 D350 with manual.

If the above doesn't help, break out the wallet.

The only solution I found was a SBC Con-O - smooth as silk. If you have an extended cab you can put a 1/2 inch plate between the carrier bearing and the frame. This can also help - but mine did not disapear until I put the Con-O in.

I don't have a stick transmission so I have no agenda, but, my brother put in a SBC clutch (a conversion to the 13 1/4) and says that it is super smooth. He can back up a really steep grade were he lives and it just pulls with NO spazzing or jumping.
