Used a jack stand with a 2x4 on it.

Tearing into the getrag is not my specialty, all I'm gonna do is add a filter kit and top cover gasket. I really like that idea of tapping it and adding a 90* fitting/hose. If I only had a tap kit ...

I thought your getrag was pretty noisy, and a little wounded when we me at SOP'05, are you at least going to look inside it and check for endplay? You don't need an entire tap kit, go and get a 1/8" pipe tap from the store of your preference. If the tap is too big for the nipple, then I'd grind it off, and then tap the hole. I'm sure a couple bucks will get you a pipe tap. If your careful you can use a small cresent wrench to screw the tap in and out.

So the bellhousing to engine bolts are strong enough to support the getrag/205 unit for 10 seconds or so/long enough to lower the trans/205, pull the trans jack out the way and raise up the floor jack to support the rear of the 205?? . .

I guess you can try it and let us know, I would not be crazy about the idea of letting it hang, even for a little bit. Your jack stand under the oil pan will end up denting the pan bad for sure with the weight of the getrag and 205. *I* would not let them hang.

Oh yeah, hurry up, its warm, and its time to drive that thing and tell us how the big charger, big sticks, and big pump work together with the SBC!! I'm still waiting on a full report... . foot tapping..... get to work ;) .

Got the flywheel bolted up before work Sunday, 101ft-lbs. Is the starter just gonna find its way onto the flywheel, or was I supposed to eyeball it/pay close attention to it?

How do I know which way the clutch disc goes on this SBC?

BTW it outta be a crime to have to drive a 360 gasser to work again:rolleyes::mad::-laf... After this clutch job, I think it's time to pull this 360 gasser and start the mighty 5. 9 Cummins install:D.

Provided the flywheel is exactly the same diameter, and the tooth count of the ring gear is the same, the starter will be fine. Now is the time to make sure.

The clutch disc will only work right one way. It should say on the disc, "flywheel side" or something like that. Every clutch I have delt with, the hub sticks out further on one side then the other of the clutch disc. If you put it in backwards all kinds of bad things can happen.

It is a crime to drive a 360 to work, thats why dodge started putting cummins in trucks! Yeah, get to work on the conversion too.
