I downshifted into 2nd gear prior to entering my street. The ? clutch let out an awful squeel. Any thoughts on why? Only have 31,000 miles without any bombing and it is a lot of road miles.

Need a little more info:
At time of Squeel --
Was peddle engaged fully, partly, foot on or released?

Were you under power of foot off throttle?

There is a big group out here, some one is sure to come up with an answer
Good luck

I had this happen to me a little while ago. It turned out the the carry bearing behind the transmission was a little dry, and when it torqued over to one side, it would squeak.

YOur problem may be totally different but I would check the carry bearing, maybe smear a little grease on it just to be sure.

Well folks I determine the noise. Darn U-Joint is bad just as the drive shaft ends at the rear axle housing. I posted a question a while back regarding a shimmy I was felling as I was going up through the lower gears. Now my crytal ball is a little clearer. I'll tell ya all service managers think they are the only ones that understand which end of the screwdriver to use. I had the guy telling me over the phone that it wasn't the u-joint. I politely told him that I was the one laying under the truck holding the drive shaft in my hands not him. AHAHAHHHAHAHHHHHHHH
