Just noticed this on the drive home tonight with less than 300 miles on the odo. When I am shifting gears I get a little tick or pop sound from the clutch pedal in the first 1" of travel. When I got home and shut the truck off I could really notice it. Sometimes it won't do it, but 8 times out of 10 it will. Weird, huh? Anybody else notice this issue? It just started tonight I swear. It's loud enough that I would have noticed it before.

Hmmmm

Well, it's still there this morning. I'll have to climb under the dash tonight and see what I can find. Maybe I can have the wife push the pedal while I look at it. I know lots of people have issues with their new trucks, but I wasn't looking forward to going back to the dealer this soon:rolleyes:

my truck has 23k on it and does it about 8 out of 10 times too. I don't think its something that will go away unless its fixed.

<----been to lazy to get around to it lol

That sounds like the Clutch pedal position switch, they click when the pedal is pushed down. It's the safety switch, the clutch needs to pushed in to start the truck. At least that's how it is on the "older" trucks:)

On my '01 the clicking was the clutch interlock switch that is attached to the rod from the pedal to the master cylinder. I never quite found out what it was that made it click.

I just got back from lunch and had no ticking clutch pedal. Must have something to do with the temp. It's 81F right now and it was about 52 this morning. I guess I'll have to wait until it is cold again to check it out. :p

Mine has just started doing it and is getting much more frequent! I don't think it is temperature dependent as it was >80* here today and it was making the noise most of the day. Anybody been to the dlr with it yet?

Larv

When its >80 degrees, mine creaks (both in sound and feel) during the whole motion of engaging the clutch. Definitely from either the bushing under the dash or the clutch master cylinder. I've tried to lube it but without success. I hope to take it in for warranty replacement before it drives me nuts. This is the only problem with the truck in 20k miles!

Drove mine about 50-60 miles today and it never clicked once! Go figure! Dlr will check it when i go in for my 3k oil change. Larv

HOCummins04,

Thanks for the info. Your problem sounds exactly like mine. I printed out your other thread along with pages from the service manual and plan to take care of myself this weekend. Would like to avoid the dealer if possible.

Thanks again!

HOCummins04,

I did as you suggested and it is 100% better. You are right, the permatex gets all over everything and very difficult to clean up.

Do you know how to lube the clutch master cylinder? While having the clutch pedal disengaged from the master cylinder plunger, I could push in the plunger and feel it sticking. I've tried to lube by just spraying a bunch of silicon from the outside, but didn't work. There is a ring that holds the plunger in, but I'm scared to take ring out with the pressure behind the plunger (might not ever be able to put back in). The service manual is far from helpful in this regard.

CSilkowski - have not messed with it - don't know. Glad you got things squared away. I was amazed at the difference after - how much easier the pedal was to push in, and how much smoother it operated.

You know, before I read this thread my clutch pedal was smooth operating and quiet. Now it makes noise. Thanks a lot guys. At least there seems to be a way to quiet it down again. Guess I'll be crawling around on my driver's side floor with my anti-sieze soon.
