I have a 2004. 5, 3500, 4WD, six speed. It has a very annoying noise in the clutch pedal. It now has 21,000 miles on it and the condition has been there since day one. It is most easily detected by having the transmission in neutral and bringing the engine up to about 1,800 to 2,000 RPM or higher, then push in the clutch pedal. The clutch pedal, at about ¾ depressed, has a very noticeable and annoying vibration that can be felt in the pedal and also can be heard. My dealer agrees that this is unusual and has pulled the transmission and checked out the clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, transmission and more. He replaced the clutch disk because of loose springs and the throw out bearing IAW TSB 0001-03. None of this work did anything to relieve the noise and vibration and we don’t know what else to try. The reason it is so annoying when driving is, because every time I up shift I get this noise and vibration when releasing the clutch. I finally got to meet with the DC District Manager last week about this problem. He has a truck similar to mine and his truck does the same thing. He said DC engineering is totally aware of the problem and are working on a repair as soon as they find out what is causing the vibration. As soon as they find the solution they will issue a TSB. Until then the DM cannot authorize any repair/changing of parts since engineering is working the problem. I drove a 2005 Getrag six speed the dealer had in the lot and it has the same vibration. So we can rule out the NV5600 as being related to the problem. The only common thread that I have found so far is only trucks with adjustable pedals have the vibration. This may or may not have any bearing on the vibration, maybe only a coincidence. The strange thing is that some trucks have the vibration and some don’t. Why?? Please let me know if you have a similar problem and if you have adjustable pedals or not. Thanks.

I,ld check the runout on both the crank and flywheel , then maybe mounts , eng. & cab , if you can dupplicate with out moving then put on lift and look for shaking eng. to cab linkage issue.

I have the adjustable pedals on my truck. I don't have any vibration to speak of, but the clutch pedal is sticky and squeeks when you press the clutch pedal in. Customer service says this is normal and they all do it.

When I am slowly releasing the clutch pedal, the movement is not smooth, but choppy and then the clutch engages and off it goes. It's getting anoying and I will try a different dealership. I sprayed some lube on it, but it only lasted about a half a day. It was smooth like the day I drove it off the lot.

But, I don't have any vibration in the pedal when shifting.

I have the vibration! Plus a slipping clutch :) I had the drive shaft replaced 1000 miles ago (the center loop bushing tore). That night I did some racing (beat up some GT's, WRX's, S4's). I figured the stock clutch would start to slip, but not vibrate. . But shortly after that, it started to vibrate... ...

hmm wondering if I can get the dealership to cover _PART_ of the cost, or atleeast the labor of a new southbend install.

District Manager's reply

I finally met with the Chrysler district manager (DM) about my clutch pedal vibration and just wanted to let you guys know what the outcome was. To make it short he claims that DC engineers are aware of the vibration problem and are working on a fix for it. They claim they are not sure where the vibration is coming from and need to find that out before providing a fix. The DM gave me his phone number and told me to give him a call this fall if I haven’t heard anything from my dealer by then and he would update me on the status. His company vehicle is a truck equipped very similar to mine and it has the same vibration. My dealer also has a 2005 2500 with the Getrag 6 speed in it and it has the vibration also, so that eliminated any possibility of the problem being transmission related. By the way both of these trucks have adjustable pedals although I can’t see any reason why that could be the cause, just a coincidence I guess. I’ll keep you informed if I hear anything new.

Gary I've got the same issue on my 3500 with the G56 (it is not a Getrag) I also have the adjustable pedals

MSPEROS: Thanks for your reply and I stand corrected on the Getrag vs. G56 transmissions. I remember at the first of the year there was talk about DC putting the Getrag in the new trucks, maybe it went into the lighter duty trucks and they replaced the NV5600 with the G56 and also used the Dual Mass Flywheel in the Cummins powered trucks. Evidently the DMF didn't take care of the clutch pedal vibration since yours still has it. . Thanks for the info... . GW
