My clutch just started making a popping noise this week end. I only hear it when the truck is off. When you first touch the pedal it pops faintly and when you start releasing the clutch off the floor it pops pretty loud. If you don't release the clutch pedal all of the way it will not do it again. Once the pedal is released it does it again. There are no driveabilty issues yet, and it is not in the slave. You can feel the pop through the bell housing. Seems worse after the truck has been driven. A local mechanic said it sounds like the fork pivot ball is dry and wearing a groove. I just put this clutch in last year and greased the pivot ball.

Does anyone know what this is?

Thanks,

Dan

I had the same popping sound at the top on the clutch travel plus a squeak when the pedal was fully depressed.

Replacing the hydraulic system solved both issues.

BTW, my pedal would swing up to the dash if I pulled on it, the two plastic retainers inside the master cylinder had broken off. Normally the pedal travel is liminted to by the master cylinder.
