Clutch question please

I am hoping to finally get the clutch put in this weekend or Monday at the latest. I know it needs a little time to break in according to what I have read. Problem is I am scheduled to go to Oklahoma and get a load of trailers the next weekend. My question is would it hurt my clutch to pull my gooseneck trailer empty(3000 lbs) after just a week of in town driving. Of course I will take it easy with it on the way there but after a 500 mile trip it should be OK for the loaded trip home. I could wait till after I get home to install the clutch but don't want to but don't want to wait either while I have a chance to get it in. Do ya know what I mean? Sorry to ramble but I don't want to damage a new clutch. Thoughts from someone that knows are appreciated!

I installed my Southbend, and one week later, I was pulling my fiver out for a hundred mile trip.



I asked Peter at Southbend before I did this, and he said that 50 to 60 miles of break in is all that is necessary. 50-60 miles of city driving is best of course, because you will be using the clutch more. Much longer if you just highway drive.



When I towed with it for the first time, it held solid as a rock.

If the clutch slips, it will usually be around 1800 rpm in overdrive gear. Back off just a bit, don't keep slipping it. Trips do nothing for breakin. You need the little bit of slippage from taking off and changing gears to break it in. In other words, very short durations of mild slippage, spaced apart in time so nothing gets hot.
