Clutch Rattle

i thought my throw-out bearing was going out necause when i had my foot in the cluth it wouldnt rattle, but in nuetral with my foot out of the clutch it rattled like crazy, so i suspected the throw-out bearing. took it to the dealership and they replaced the clutch. it still does it, is it just the gears making all the racket? should i add some lucas when i change fulids? any input would be greatly appreciated

My truck ('03) has made the clutch rattle since new. There is a TSB out for my truck for this, but I'm not sure if your 04. 5 would be included in that... but they've already changed your clutch. I never got mine replaced because either I got used to it, or it got quieter. There has been a lot of discussion on here about this issue. I suggest you do a search on the forums for "clutch noise" or something similar.

I too have/had the noisy clutch but I recently noticed that the noise is virtually gone. Now I have more than 5000 miles on my truck, perhaps use and normal wear is a solution to the problem.

Mine too has the clutch rattle since new had hoped it would fade away ,but it hasnt in 6000 miles. Dealer was told by Dodge to replace clutch. They told me to bring it in next week. You only hear this rattle/knocking when cold and it goes away once warmed up. You can pull back on the shift lever or push in the clutch and its gone until you release. I have listened to two other 04 1/2 6spds and they do not have this noise. When its cold you can hear it over the engine running. Got the rail dust polished off today and they replaced the ripped driver door rubber seal. Love the truck just getting the bugs worked out. ///have put a 1000 miles since clutch replacement and the rattle is gone. Oo.
