Before purchasing my SBC, I called Peter there and told him what I was doing with the truck and he told me to get a Con OFE (this is the one for towing he said). I tow a 33ft 5er, and have mods that are in the 350-400 hp range if I were to turn the electronics up all the way-even though I never do. I do tow kinda heavy at around 21700 fully loaded. The stock clutch was awful for this. I got a new flywheel with the OFE and it turned out to be much better that stock.
I also got the SBC adjustable hyd kit about a month after the clutch was put in. This was not an option-it was necessary as the factory hyd. couldn't push the new clutch far enough to fully disengage. I had to STAND on it to put it into first or reverse. I HIGHLY recommend the new hyd kit with your new clutch. A friend of mine has a 98. 5 with an SBC clutch, but didn't have the same hyd problem I did, so I wonder if it is on a case by case basis or he just got really lucky. The way I have it set up now it great! The pedal effort is light and the clutch is up to the task and then some. I'm really happy with it.
