Rocketman, I changed a throw-out bearing on my '91 ~2yrs ago. (Did the clutch and re-sealed the transmixer/Tcase at the same time, the rear main still looked good so I left it alone) I had the benefit of using a friends commercial garage complete with a vehicle lift, two HEAVY duty hydraulic transmission stands, and pneumatic tools; the mess came out in less than an hour. Didn't weigh the Getrag but it was HEAVY... even after separating it from the Tcase. The job was pretty straight forward but getting the stick shift back in was and exercise in manual dexterity for one person:it rides on a spring that you have to compress as you try to work a monster snap ring back into place. Getting the crossmember to align back up was a two person job due to weight and size even with the two stands. I replaced the clutch with a heavy duty one (I think it was a Borg-Warner ~$500) although the old one wasn't quite dead yet. I obtained several parts (clutch,re-seal kits, rear main, driveline components)to have on hand as well as the throw-out bearing just in case I found something when I got the mess apart, the only one I didn't use was the rear main. Does your truck have bolts or plugs for the fill/drain? I stripped the fill plug (3/8 drive)in the process (had to tack weld a bolt head to it in order to remove it)so an extra plug or two and some anti-seize wouldn't hurt either. Hope this helps and "buena suerte", kad
