Question About 02 7.3 Powerstroke

So I've a 1990 Ford 7. 3 IDI. It's recently become incredibly difficult to start(physically turning the key all the way) I thought it had something to do with the safety switch because you have to push the clutch dang near through the firewall to get it to start. I've replaced the lock/ignition cylinder twice. Any ideas? Anybody had anything close to this on a different vehicle? Thanks in advance!

Joe,

I suggest that you examine the entire clutch pedal assembly for worn parts, bushings and cross shafts in particular that are not allowing the saftey switch to be fully compressed to close the starting circuit. Also look at the master cylinder pushrod to see if the round hole is now elongated and sloppy.

I have replaced two of them on '97 Fords.
