After 125k miles including a recent trip from Anchorage to south Texas where I am now my clutch is giving a scraping/howling sound when started cold and backing up. It is intermittent and quits in a few seconds but needs to be resolved before going on into Mexico for 2 months. I have an appt. at Burns Dodge in McAllen, Texas Mon. AM for a look-see and fix. I hope they are a good dealer.

Any clues on what is causing this sound would be helpful.

At first I thought it was a disk brake dragging but had them checked today and all was still perfect thanks to Sam in Olympia.

There is always something to spend money on.

Sounds like the noise mine made when the clutch release bearing went south on my truck this month. I delayed the fix a few weeks and it cost me a lot. With 136K on truck, disk, pressure plate, release bearing, clutch fork and hydraulic clutch assembly. Working out of town away from my tools and a place to work. Local ******* here in NH took me for a ride. Don't delay it could cost you a lot more.

I talked to my dad (Jack in Alaska) today and his truck should be fixed today or by early tomorrow.

The problem was the retaining clip on the clutch fork. The dealer did not have one so the part is on order.
