After my reflash last week to level 5 on my Big hoss I have noticed clutch slippage empty when cold outside at 1600rpm when boost builds over 30lbs. My question is has my clutch bit the bullet or can it be saved if I turn the power down. I may be selling soon to my dad and he doesn't need the extra power but I don't want to give him a POS clutch!!

Thanks, JC

if its the stock clutch it can take quite a bit of slipping before destroying anything. just keep in mind everytime you slip it you take some more life out of it.

they engineer these things for the clutch to let go so they wont tear up the Dodge that the Cummins is surrounded by.

Yes it is stock, it's also good to know that it isn't dead yet. It has only slipped once since the reflash to level-5. I guess I'll just have to be careful not to lug the engine below 2000 RPM when racing or pulling!

thanks JC

My clutch had never slipped before installing the DD2 injectors (all the other mods were already in), even when towing our 5th wheel. The same day the DD2s went in, my wife slipped the stock clutch by nailing the throttle at 1800 RPM in 5th - running empty!

While waiting on the South Bend Con OFE, we had a trip planned towing our 5th wheel. I unplugged the CANbus data link cable on the Edge EZ (i. e. , turned down the power), and the clutch never slipped during the entire trip. When we pulled the stock clutch out, it looked fine (16K miles) - still had the cross-hatching on the flywheel and pressure plate faces with no discoloration at all. In fact, it's still gathering dust in my garage!
