Towing is remarkably good with this clutch. The big thing with towing is you want decent engagement to get the load moving. The engagement on this clutch is smoother than on my buddys high perf. single disk from another manuf. and the holding power on his doesn't come close. As for shifting, definitely slower with the duals. That will probably be the case with any of them. The fact is there is a lot more mass in the assembly so the syncros have to work a lot harder - no way around that. As I said before, the pedal is definitely heavier, it is something you learn to live with. Some have tried to build these duals with lighter pedal pressure, I hear they simply didn't have the holding force necessary.



I have to back a 12-13,000lb trailer in to a tight spot regularly, clutch works great for that - I was really surprised. As for drag racing, I think Jeff Prince runs high 11's low 12's with a 6 spd dually using a dual, haisley's I believe. You just get used to shifting them.



I can't speak for the other brands, I just know the EEP works for me. It really surprised me how tame it is as far as engagement. And it DOES NOT slip when you get the pedal all the way out You just get used to the pedal and slower shifting. NOTHING comes without a price, it is a small one to pay as far as I'm concerned.

That is exactly the information that I wanted to hear!!!! I am not at all concerned about the price! I have $3500 set a side from my 1997 Super Stock Pull truck I just sold. When I sold it I said this money is only going into something that will help me pull and win with the new Diesel Truck so that is why I am wanting the best clutch I can get!

I have a question.



I am surprised they let you run a not OEM engine in the street class. I'm sure you are aware of this and looked in to it, just surprises me.



As for the price to pay, I wasn't referring to $, I'm just talking the price being a heavy pedal and slower shifting.

I have had 2 Southbend clutches and just one of Haisleys dual disks. I will say that Southbend does stand behind there clutches very well, and in fact better then I ever expected. But I will never own another southbend clutch in a high HP truck. Lower hp maybe... I had great luck with it very streetable till I started putting power to it (I only had the single disk clutch from southbend. )



Haisleys clutch has just worked from day one It works so well I almost forget how much trouble I had in the past till i read on the tdr about someone else having trouble then the memorys come back about how much a pain they are to change.

CJohnson- The class up here that I am getting into rules why requires you to run an engine/transmission/axles that are available in a 1-ton or smaller truck. Last year in our meeting when the class was started I said there is no way I am going to run a 6. 2L diesel that was the only thing available back in 1989 for my truck! It was agreeded upon that converson trucks are okay to run as long as like mentioned above that everything is for 1-ton trucks or smaller.

Okay, I have been working on the truck for the last week pretty much non stop and have the engine and intercooler mounted now. I somehow managed to make the Duramax one work. It is 3" wider and 4" taller than the Dodge unit but it only has 3" inlets instead of the Dodges 3. 5" inlets. Looking at the inlet size though it looks that dodge only went with the larger ones because they couldn't make it to wide and the inlets realy taper down and it looks like the Duramax inlets would still flow more air with less restriction.



Anyway, I have been doing alot of thinking about Turbo's and such and would much rather build my 4" exaust system once than have to rebuild the downpipe and what not for the 4" outlet. I have been really thinking about this HTB2 or the HTB2/64 and the little deal they have on untill the 2nd. The price almost seems to good to be true seeing I was going to be buying an HX40 anyway in the spring time anyway.



Before I call and they start asking me 100 questions I want kind of a grasp on what I should be going with for the old 12valve 215HP. As you all know by my post above I am looking for 500hp or in that area. Have to run a single Turbo. Looking for street preformance and on the track with low turbo lag.



Can someone sort of point me in the right direction for the plate, injectors and what not. I was going to go with the 4000 GSK and was thinking a #10.



One other thing about this turbo- If I were to build my own downpipe could I use a 4" HX55 or HX40 clamp. I work at a trucking company and we have tons of 4" clamps and get get everything I need if it will work.

I can't speak on the P7100, but you might consider the B1 turbo as well as the HTB2. I know the price is good on that thing but I'm not sure that it isn't being pushed as a 500 hp single. With the B1, there are a number of variations abailable that we know are good for over 500. I'm not saying that the HT won't work, just that is hasn't been proven at those levels as extensively. I know the B1-2 is good for a pretty clean 450, the standard B1 should have little trouble with 500, then there is the steroid B1 I believe. Anyway, just something else to think about. Sounds like things are coming along.

Does anyone have the web-site for the B-1's or any of there other turbo's? and does anyone have aprox prices?From what I have heard is that they are pretty pricey turbo.
 
Ryan, lots of people sell the B1's, but the only guy I know of in the country that has any to sell is dakotadiesel.com. Talk to Jim and tell him I referred you. Best prices too. He ships out that day and has them in stock. 605 210 2265. and I think 605 797 4638. piersdiesel.com also sells them, but don't have any in stock as far as I know, but they are A1 over there. The B1's aren't cheap, but they are proven and they are tough.

A friend of mine has a B1 on his truck and he loves it, he pulls heavy loads and it spools fast, he hasnt had any problem at all with it other than the flange for the oil, bullydog sent him 3 wrong one's. P-Pump the only way to go
