I just put a southbend dual disk clutch in my truck. Sometimes it is hard to put in gear, even at a stop. It also makes a squealing noise when I start off. I can only assume all chatter is normal for one of these clutches. Is all this normal for a dual disk?

The noise is normal, you should be able to put it in gear just as easy as the stock clutch. your pedal pressure will be stiffer.

Ounce you warp your floater plate you will have trouble putting it in gear because the clutch cant release all the way. .

I stick mine into 3rd that usually assists with getting into the desired gear.

Every transmission is different. Some peoples NV56's shift great with a DD.

My NV has been nit picky since day one with a DD in it. But its still going strong after 30+hooks to the sled.

SBC's floater plates dont typically warp since they are pretty darn thick . 400"

I have used abused SBC DD's for over 2 years now. They are really a tough clutch and perfect for Sledpulling. They have basically become the gold standard for street puller clutches across the country. Sorry to be long winded.....

Chatter and squeeling is normal. Get out and hook that thing to a sled! :-laf

You have to abuse it to get rid of the squeal, run the engine up to 3000 rpm and slowly let out the clutch till is starts to engage then dump it and smoke the tires, a couple of those and the squeal will be go, or as Justin said, hook to the sled, it quiets them down for quite a while.

Also, if I don't double clutch it sometimes it goes into gear and the entire truck jolts as if I don't have the clutch in all the way. The entire shifter rod rotates loose. Can I just man up on that thing and turn it to tighten it so it stops coming loose?

If you have a NV5600 and didn't get the SBC Hydraulic Upgrade, you may not be fully releasing the clutch when you push the pedal in.

My DD when I had it was a little difficult getting in to 2nd and reverse, but shifting was smooth, although slower than stock.

Squealing and chattering seems to be the norm.

Now I have a SBC OFE. Smooth and Quiet :D

I don't mean to be remedial but I don't know how your shift rod is coming loose. Are you sure it just isn't the shift pattern turning in the knob like everyone else's? You have to pop it out with a pocket knife and glue, silicone it in there.

It is the actual shifter rod that is loose. I thought it was my shifter knob at first but I have my exhaust brake switch bolted to the rod so when it is loose I cant just flick the switch on/off.
