Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Clutch

Plan on installing a south bend single disc clutch in a 2001 HO with 130,000 miles. Stock except for injectors, exhaust, and intake. Does flywheel need to be replaced also?

No it does not but should be resurfaced when doing the job.

Peter, does the flywheel for a NV5600 equipped have a slight tapper?

Yes. Popper flywheel grinders are set up to put the 2-3 thousands taper when surfaced.

Is this something that should be well known for a shop that resurfaces them. Also when I convert my G56 to a NV5600 the flywheel as new will not need a slight resurfacing, like brake rotors should have a slight resurface to make sure of flat surface.

Yes they are designed that way. Leave a new flywheel alone.
