I called South bend Clutch and got a 900 dollar quote for a 1100ft/lb (cast iron, 13" clutch) comes with Kevlar flywheel bushing, alignment tool and throwout bearing, they call it comparable to a (sachs unit).

Anyone know anything about this clutch? Seems like it ought to be gold plated for that much, but I've never bought a clutch this heavy before. Is this price "in line"?

Any other clutch manufacturer make something similar... less money?

I appreciate the help.

If your running stock, whats the heavy clutch for? I also plan on installing a South Bend clutch, but the one that we talked about would handle 800 lbs and all the parts were $425. But I would also order the flywheel that has been machined out for the Kevlar bearing(installed), for $175.

That price is in line or better than the other clutches of that capacity. Joe D. 's clutch and the McLeod dual discs are the other high end clutches. I lucked out and bought my McLeod on the super group purchase price.

Since you are starting out with a #10 you might as well spend the money now. I'm sure you'll want more in the future. BTW my truck slipped the clutch on the test drive with that plate.

Sickly slipped the Dynojet roller brake instead of the custom-modified Sachs clutch #ad

I guess the torque is nearly up to the "adequate" level #ad
Can I just say that Sickly is "comfortably" over the 500/1000 threshhold? Wouldn't want to scare off any drofs #ad

After investing a lot of time and $ in clutch development for Sickly, I have found that if your Ram is moderately uprated, there are several moderately (that word again) priced clutches that will hold. If your Ram is really "frisky" you may be happier in the end paying "too much" to get the best, and being done with it. Any bombaholic can assure you that there is no cure and less power is never the answer to clutch slippage #ad

Thats what I need to know, I appreciate all the help that I get is these forums. The #10 is for me, so I guess I know what class of clutch I need to plan for. thanks for the help.

Joe, how does your clutch compare to the one that I called about? I'd like to get some info about yours. I want a good dependable set-up. Probably 2 months or so before I need to worry about it, but a clutch is coming from somewhere.

Its too late... the bugs bitten. .

thanks
