My truck has quit on me three times--Code 1689.

The idle jumps up then drops way down about 2 times

then it will stall. After i check the codes it will start and

good.

I know 1689 is a communication problem,But

i was wondering if anyone that had the problem has

found the cure. So far it has only done it at idle.

Pump wire has not been touched everything else has

been cleaned. 45,000 miles on truck.

Thanks for any help

Mine is doing the same thing, along with afew other codes. I can't seem to figure it out. Big injectors, a Cam, ported head, hybrid turbo, and the truck can barely get out of it's own way...

Any suggestions? My truck does the same lope, then die...

It's wearing on me.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated. I'm just about ready to drop it off at a shop and let them work on it...

P1689 (M) No Communication Between ECM

and Injection Pump Module

Data link circuit failure between ECM and fuel injection

pump. Low power, engine derated, or engine stops.

I would start by checking all of the connections to the VP44 and clean them.

Mine died on me 3 times in a week that same way, back when

i made the first post.

I took the EZ off and pulled the trailer 2,000 miles without any

problem. I put the EZ back on today and cleaned every plug

i could find. My 2 years are up on the EZ but Edge said they

would check it out if i still have the prblem

All three time it stalled i was setting park.
