My truck which is a 2k dually automatic thats stock with 166k miles just started to run erractic and mis like someone is cutting the key off and then died, sometimes it will start up and go for a few miles and cuts out again , all of this happened going down the road like 30 miles into driving, I let it sit until the next morn and it did it again in 30 miles, I ran the codes and got 1690 which reads fuel pump ckp sensor does not agree with ecm sensor, my lift pump pressure is 13 going down the road but will fluctuate when this happens and my truck has both the cam and crank sensor. I actually changed the crank sensor with a known good used one and its still doing it, could the cam sensor be bad too? actually both the sensors only had 30k miles on them when this happened, as far as I know the stock vp 44 still on it! I hope someone can help, this is the only code I have got that came up on my scanner.

I have a 01 quadcab that would mis and the tach would also stop working. the code read that the map sensor was bad but when i asked around i was told to change my cam sensor witch controlls the tach and was giving the map sensor a false reading. hope this helps.

99 service manual lists 1690 as Fuel injection pump CKP sensor does not agree with ECM CKP sensor.

Problem in fuel sync signal. Possible injection pump timing problem. Low power, engine derated,or engine stops.

The 99 manual actually states the cam sensor is for diagnostics only and will not interupt engine operation. Since you have changed the crank sensor and you do not have a crank sensor code showing up there appears to be 1 item left I am sorry to say. VP44. There are several people here that sell that item and believe it is in the 1100 range. I would at least remove and clean the elect. plug on the vp before jumping into a pump change.

1690

I had a 1690 before I replaced the vp44 and I have it now after a new vp44. In stock configuration I don't set the code. Add the SMARTY to level #9 and no code. Add the SMARTY and FMS and I get a 1690. Seems the added fuel from my FMS sets the code. I'm gonna replace my cam position sensor and see if it helps. Other than the code showing up I don't notice anything wrong.

David, He does have a crank sensor code (CKP). I agree with you about suspecting the VP.

These are the codes I would expect to see for the crank sensor

P0335 Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction

P0336 Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance

P0337 Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Low Input

P0338 Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit High Input

P0339 Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Intermittent

That is the reason for suspecting the VP as it states It does not agree with the crank sensor.

I hade the p1690 code when my VP went out. I was supposed to get the p2016 code. I didn't get any other codes. didn't notice a gradual loss of poer or sputtering, just 75 and go to on the side of the road calling AAA.

great members helped me out with trouble shooting.
