The person who i sold my 2001 CTD to has been getting the code 743 recently. is there a easy fix or is it something a shop has to do? I'm giving this person advice over the phone 1000 miles away.

Here's the code section:p0743

(M) Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid/

Trans Relay Circuits

An open or shorted condition detected in the torque

converter part throttle unlock solenoid control circuit (3 or

4-speed auto. trans. only).

Thanks for any help you can give.

Ed

Could be a simple as a bad connection or a bad solenoid. Check the trans control harness all the way back to the TCM for any possible rubbed\broken wires, check the trans plug end of it for fluid contamination.

Grounds, bad battery, bad battery connection, excessive alternator noise in the circuit can also contribute.

Ed,

The Dodge Diagnostic Procedures Manual has detailed instructions for troubleshooting this code.

Send me a Private Message with your email address and I'll shoot you a copy. The file is too large too attach here.

Regards,

John L.
