I have lost my cruise control a while ago, It will not turn on. The indicator in the dash does not turn on. I checked codes and had a p1596 "Speed control switch volatage always High" Which would indicate an open circuit. Could this be the clock spring causing this? I have no service manual so I have no wiring schematic to look at to see.

Anyone else have a problem like this?

No one.......REALLY?

After having done a search and lots of reading it seams that this is a true unsolved mystery. There have been several threads started about this code but it has never been fixed from all I have read on it here.

No one here has a service manual for an 02 with troubleshooting in it for this code and issue?:{

I have looked in my 2001 manual and it really is not a lot of help. The cruise control sets the speed in the ECM. It appears to me if the clock spring is broken you cannot have a connection between ECM and the cruise controls in the steering wheel it does not work. I have had the clock spring break on mine and all kinds of things happen. ABS light flashes because you lose connection with the air bag is the biggest. I thing maybe the speed sensor in the rear end or bad connections, etc. Sorry I could not be of more help!!! Hope somebody else can be of more help/
