Has anyone had this code show up? P0148 "high pressure common rail checksum". The dealer can't seem to do anthing ather then clear the code when the light comes on, they have no fix yet. The check engine light comes on at least twice a week.

Jon

2004. 5 3500 SRW, K&N, Edge Juice with attitude, and Mopar Performance injectors.

Try unplugging your programmer and disconnecting both batteries for 10-20 minutes. Re- hook the Batts up and start the truck on stock power without the programmer.

My truck thru that code once, ended up being a bug that came along with upgrading my edge juice box to the hot version. I got a hold of edge and they swapped the box and no problems since.

That code is set if the rail pressure does not equal the set pressure desired by the ECM. Most likely caused by lack of supply to the injection pump. If your boxed and have injectors your starving the CP3 and damage may soon result.

starving the cp3 will not normally cause damage. poor performance yes but not damage. if it did there wouldnt be a dmax on the road. they dont seem to have a problem with early failures and have no supply pump. most of the time it seems this code is cause by electronic upgrades.

Most of the time the only way to keep it coming back is to add an additional fuel pump.

If you are lucky a fuel filter might fix it.

My truck did that. they solved the probelm by installing 6 new injectors. My injector were returning 450ml per minute and they should only return around 150ml. This also cause my truck to black smoke alot and I could hit 1500 degrees on my egt 's unloaded and bone stock.

the d-max has no supplie pump, but we do and when it fails it starves the cp3 of fuel, the d-max has no restriction going to the cp3. the only thing i see that is saving the d-max from more often failures is that they have 2 rails and they are double in size from the cummins, which gives them a lot more avalible fuel. the lack of fuel in the common rail system has to affect things in a bad way, because the fuel is 100% of the cooling and lubricating agents needed to keep things from getting too hot and running in a metal to metal atmosphere.
