Code P0191 means what?

Got one of those engine malfunction lights that came on yesterday. Can anyone tell me what that code means? While towing my 5ver up a hill I experience some difficulty with the xmission(48RE) not downshifting. It was already in tow/haul, but wouldn't drop into 2nd when I pushed the pedal down. Got about 9K on the engine.

Is there a place on this site that describes what the codes mean?

Wardog, I checked my service manual and for some reason I could not find that code listed, but maybe I wasn't looking in the right place. But I checked this site http://autorepair.about.com/cs/troubleshooting/l/bl_obd_main.htm

and this is what was listed;

"P0191 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance"

Those look like the 03 codes I have. Are they a little different on the 04's and up? Looks like the 03 P0191 and the 04 P0192 have the same description????

I had P0191 on mine

Wardog, I had that code on my truck when it was brand new. I took it in and they had to call Cummins about it since they hadn't seen it before. The work order says, " Rationality due to A/C high pressure switch wire rubbing on low pressure line. Insulated and rerouted wires. OK at this time. " I don't know what that wiring has to do with the fuel rail pressure sensor. They cleared the code and it hasn't come back in over 15K miles..... Good luck, Robert
