Anyone ever see this code before. Check engine light came on while I was doing daily driving today. Pulled off to the side of the road and turned truck off and then back on but light still remained. Drove to the nearest Autozone and they pulled a P0253 code which pointed to the VP44 injection pump. I then started the truck again in the parking lot and it went away. Drove about 100 miles more and had no light?? I have a fuel gauge, mechanical, and it never drops below 12 psi. Truck shows no other signs of there being something terribly wrong with it. Just wondering if this is something to worry about

According to service manual that code is "Fuel Injection Pump Fuel Valve Feedback Open Circuit" with the brief description "Problem sensed with fuel circuit internal to fuel injection pump". Sounds like the VP is on the way to going south. Others can correct that if I am wrong cause I am only guessing. Maybe you can wait until the dreaded 0216 code appears?

Do you have a fueling box?. I had that code and replaced the box. It has been fine since. 3 successful starts in a row without a fault will extinguish the check engine light.
