I am wondering if any of you have had this code with these symptoms.

4 days ago I was on the highway, let off the throttle to let someone

merge in, stepped on it again to resume speed. Engine bucked a couple

times real quick. Check engine light came on & dead pedal. Went up an

exit ramp & engine died. Cranked it over & it started right up. Ran alittle

rough & the idle went between like 800 & 1100 rpm's. Went into a store,

came out about 15 minutes later & all is ok. Check engine light was still on,

checked codes at home & p1689 came up. Cleared codes and ok for 2 days.

Again I was on the highway, towing about 9000lbs, Bucked alittle, check engine light on, but no dead pedal. Drove for about 30 miles ok, pulled over

to eat. Check codes again, code #p1689. Again idles went up & down. Disconnected EZ box & restarted, it ran worse. Reconnected EZ & noticed

alittle corrosion on one of the plug pins. Cleaned it with a tooth pick. Cleared codes & drove about another 100-150 miles ok. When I got to work this morning, idle was alittle rough, no codes or check engine light. Went to lunch

& all seamed good. Any Thoughts?? VP?? ECM?? Wiring?? No other plugs or pins were corroded. Thanks

Have you checked to see what the code means? If not here is what I pulled off of here,

P1689 (M) No Communication Between ECM

and Injection Pump Module

Data link circuit failure between ECM and fuel injection

pump. Low power, engine derated, or engine stops.

So I would guess it is something between your injector pump and your ECM. Hope this helps .
