i bougt my truck last october with about 94000 miles and i have taken it up to about 107000 since then. I had Diesel Dynamics put a 4" system along with trans, egt, and boost gauges. I also added a KN intake kit Other than that it is stock

Yesterday (Friday the 12th) my check engine light came on and the truck started to run sluggish. I immediatly went to the dealer to have them pull the codes on it, but they were backed up and couldn't look at it until monday. So off I went to Autozone and had them pull code for me. I only had P1690 come up. I called the dealer and was able to have them look the code up for me. They said it was a general fuel system error. That is all they said. But they also mentioend I would be ok to drive and the engine would shut itself down before any serious damage would occur.

The check engine light goes out every few starts and the truck runs fine for about 15 minutes then on comes the light again and I am back to square one. Today I changed the fuel filter and the drove the truck around for about an hour. It did fine and I thought maybe my old filter(with about 7500 miles on it ) was just restricting flow. Now however the truck runs for about 1-2 minutes then just dies like it is out of fuel. I turn the engine over for about 10 seconds and then it fires rigth up again. It has done this latest thing about 4 times. I checked the purge valve on the fuel water seperator after it dies to see if any fuel was in the filter houseing and it just blows out air. I am fairly new to this fueling system, but I think the LP is bad???. If I understand it right the LP supplies the filter which in turn suppies the injector pump?? If this is wrong please help me.

The truck goes into the dealer on monday or tuesday depending on if they get an opening. I just want to have a little heads up about what might be going on.

Thanks a ton in advance

According to my "Superchips" code reader it says P1690 CKP Sensor does not agree with ECM CKP sensor" what that means,it only tells what the code means not how to fix it ,But I'm trying locate a book or some thing more in depth. Please keep all of us informed good luck DH

Fuel injection pump CKP Sensor Does Not Agree With ECM CKP Sensor

Your dealer is half right, the truck will shut down... After serious and expensive damage has been done.

Find another dealer.

Went and checked codes again this morning (ign on/off/on/off/on)

codes came up P0122, and P1690

???

I am taking to dealer first thing monday morning.

The 1693 code is DTC Detected in ECM or PCM I dont have clue what that means but I got the same code after changing out my Vp. I turned the engine over without hooking up the connector on Vp. It might just mean you have a bad connection on your PCM. Sounds like your out of Warranty any way so you might try just disconnecting the plug under the yellow void sticker on your VP and plugging it back in again. What the heck it might work.

Took the truck to dealer this morning. they called back and said the LP is bad. going to hit me for about $375 to replace. feels like highway robbery . they couldn't give me a sure answer on the injector pump, until after the lp is installed and they drive it a couple miles. hopefully all is well after this install, otherwise I will take is to my local DD to have the injector pump done.

i now know the price at cummins, but i barely got the truck to the dealership, kept dying. So i will give the dealership buisness today, but next time I am going somewhere else.

on a side note, My dealership told me that it cost about $2500 installed to do an injector pump, DD can do it around $1300. I just didn' t think that dealership markup was that bad?

Well, I got the truck back and all is well again, ( or as well as it can be for having to pay $417. 00 for something that really costs half as much).

I even noticed a little power gain! All that was replaced was the LP and my VP is still ok, according to the dealer, but i will have it checked over by someone I trust.

Thanks everone for your input !! much appricieated
