P1693-DTC Detected in ECM or PCM, OK I know what the code is, but what does that mean? Is it something horrible that will destroy my truck the next time I drive it or is it something that just popped up cause of the new chip? Can I just disconnect the battery and reset it with no worrys? Just looking for someone who knows what this code means, Thanks

At least it wasn't P0216 again!:-laf

Anybody? Hoping someone out there know whats a DTC is... . the ECM/PCM I know. Just curious what is wrong with my truck.

Hey there..... 1693 is a companion code. It means that there was another code set in the (pcm) I believe. One of the two anyway. You will need a more in depth scanner to find the exact code. Some guys get this one and their trucks mess up. They usually have other codes though. I get it when ever I break the tires loose in the rain. My main thing is as long as the truck seems to be running good and you don't have any other codes, I would think you are ok. It will go away on its own. If it doesn't I will come meet you on Friday with my smarty and clear it for you. If you cant wait or want peace of mind go up to auto zone or something and have them scan it to find out what is up. Let me know if I can help

It had another code, its wrote down at home, P16??. It was high voltage related. This was the first time I did the self test with the key, so I don't know how long they have been in there, but the truck runs just fine. I wonder if my TST had somekind of voltage spike somehow? I'll probably just clear them and check again on a regular basis and see if they pop back up, then I'll start looking for a reason. Thanks

I always have a 1693 smarty wont delete it. I ask smarty too, it says it does, I ask it to read codes again without even firing the rig up, and it is still there. So be it

Like I said before, this was the first time I 've checked for codes, so It might be quite old, I'll get the other code and post it, maybe someone will know if the two are related and what might be the problem, Thanks
