The yellow wire ran to the EGT gauge. As you can see, the truck has a full EGR/DPF delete. It was obviously not professionally done. Everything he disconnected (EGR, DPF, o2) was just left uncapped/wrapped and loosely zip tied to the nearest solid object to collect moisture and draw suspicion.

I'm still torn. If these mods were done properly (or this one was just tidied up), am I an idiot for letting this thing go? I'd just assume start from scratch with my own truck. Not buy a questionable hot rod from someone else. btw- I found out that it had two previous owners. Each dumped the truck after about 30k of driving... oh well.

For that matter, if anyone out there wants this truck, I can put you in touch with the dealership selling it. They are making arrangements to pick it up soon. Probably within a week. I'm in MA. So, anyone in New England is welcome to come take a look... They are asking $27-28k. I bet they would take $25k just to get rid of it. They are telling me its either going to auction or some wholesale dealer.

Buy an '06-'07, 5. 9... . None of that DPF crap to worry about
Glad to hear they gave you a full refund.
Do yourself a BIG favor, Find someone, preferably a knowledgeable TDR member and have them ALSO look at the truck BEFORE you buy.

Excellent news. Sounds like the dealership rolled over easily because they knew they were about to get in very serious trouble with the federal environmenal wacko department and could be facing very large federal and or state fines with heavy penalties.

They lost their butts on that truck. Roundtrip transportation costs wiped out any potential profit and replacement of all the missing or altered parts will put them in the hole.

My guess is initially they thought they had found a sucker far away on the opposite side of the country who didn't know what he was buying and there would be no consequence to them.

To be fair, perhaps they took the truck in on trade and sold it quickly before management types realized it was altered.

Either way, the TDR membership saved your rear!

Tell your friends and acquaintances. The TDR is worth more than $35/year.
