I am fighting poor fuel economy and have found these codes!

P1596

P1693

P0500

My cruise will not turn on so maybe the speed sensor fault is related!

The companion code said my ecu or pcm may have a DTC? So then where do I find this other DTC?

I am seeing around 12 mpg average! I have just purchased this truck and had a sticky caliper! That is fixed!

I have 235 tires and 3. 55 gears. A Good friend has the 4. 10 gears and smaller tires on his 99 QC Dually 4x4 and he always gets 15. 5 average and much better on highway!

01 3500 QC 4x4 Dually!

the p0500 is the vehicle speed sensor A

the p1596 is the speed control switch always high

the p1693 is the companion code set in both the pcm and ecm

not positive here but i think the companion code is set as the system finds a probablem and once it identifys it then the other codes are set. the stickey caliper may have caused the codes, i would clear them reset the apps and drive to see if they come back. also any guages? check your fuel press. i lost a vp44 to a clogged filter i was unaware of. also i have read on here about poor fuel economy due to a bad iat (intake air temp) sensor. good luck hope this helps

thanks I will go buy my new fuel filter now! I just purchased this truck so I do not know when it was last done! I'll update later! Thanks for all the help!

No more codes! The fuel filter was not bad to look at but better off knowing it is done! I did my sticky caliper and am now seeing 13 mpg, now just need to chase a tcc lock up issue! maybe apps relearn! Doing that now! Thanks to all! :)
