2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Codes??

On my 98. 5, how do I get the codes out of it? Is there only one alternative, going to the stealer and having them hook it up? Or does turning the ignition switch 3 times quickly will this display the codes on the milage readout?

You can get them by turning the key. Also do a search on codes, should be a ton of information.

I have read posts that state the 98. 5's and some early 99's wont retreive codes on the odometer.

Just a heads up.

This is true, I checked mine this afternoon. It does nothing but display the mileage. Wonder if you have to use the method for the 12V's, I remember reading something about grounding out something and the idiot lights flash the codes.

Why would you go to the dealer? Take your truck to Cummins and have them read the codes.
