Anyone have any experience with this product? It looks like a simple solution for those of us who tow both types of trailers. It can be seen at www.codyhitch.com.

Ninearrow,

I Installed the Cody adaptor on my 30' fiver a couple weeks ago. At the same time I installed a "Quick Hitch" ball set up in the new '01. I did hit one significant hitch (no pun intended) with the adaptor. My fiver kinp pin box is a long one (about 32 inches from center of king pin to back of box and the Cody coupler sets the point where it hitches to the ball about 4 inches forward of the King Pin. With my unusually long pin box, the back of the box would not clear the side rails of the truck in a real tight turn. But cutting about 2 1/2 inches off the rear of the pin box and some adjustments on the box, that problem is solved. I have taken time for only a 45 mile test run so far but all seems well with the set up.

I have been interested in the Cody gooseneck to fifth wheel adapter. I have received some info. and ask what demension material was used in the "neck" portion of the Cody. I was told it was 3/16 inch stock. No specific type of 3/16 in. stock was given. I am concerned that the 3/16 inch thickness is not strong enough for the loads experienced in towing. Is there an engineer in the audience that could elaborate on this? I look at the Cody and then look at the round pipe type of gooseneck and the Cody seem light weight for the job.

Are there other manufactures making gooseneck to fifth wheel adapters?

Mumby makes an adapter that is similar to the cody adapter about 470$

I saw a fith wheel hith that will fit into the reciver on a bw type gooseneck hitch but I cant seem to find It right now

I have had mine a couple of months just pulled 2000 miles and I love it,yes it is made uf 3/16 formed in a U shape whick I don't think you will hurt the only thing I would have liked to have seen is the two horseshoe pieces that go around the king pin to have been heavier,I drilled four holes thru the base adapter and tapped the king pin box for my own satisfaction. A friend say it and I had to order him one also. The price is fair and installation a snap. If a gooseneck is what you use for work why not use it to play?

Thanks for good input! Another question: Does the Cody hitch have adjustable height? If so, how many different adjustments and how much adjustment? My 3500 4x4 sits pretty high, so I would need to shorten the adapter.

The Cody adaptor does have an up and down adj. of about 2 inches. I first adjusted to max. height, but didn't like the looks as well so went to the mid=point and adjusted the king pin box to get more height.
