I thought I saw a post about front coils? I have a 01 quad w/auto and I was wondering about if there was a stronger set of coils? Also a lift coil would be considered but I have read about the yes and no on part changing. I would like a 1 1/2" lift coil or . I saw a dodge in town that had a round spacer block made of metal with gray hammerite type paint on it. That was all but longer shocks or at least after market white one's. Is that a better way to go? The front dives so much in front. I dont want to change alot of parts.

I know Jack It has the parts to do this, others do too. Either try to do a search on here for jack it. Or go to jackit.com. Also try a search on "leveling kit" or "front end leveling kit", that should turn up quite a bit of info. It's been discussed many times on here.

Not all states allow the spacers.

found a link a while back that listed state regs regarding lift laws, height specs & etc. According to that, we can't use spacers here in Michigan.

Jackit

Tuff Country makes the 2" steel coil spacer that is easy to install and no other parts are necessary. You will, however, want to align the wheels.

I think I paid $135 including shipping from Jackit in Utah.

I am lifting my truck, Every cop I ask they give me a differnt answer on how much I can lift. Dose anyone know where I can find out how much of a lift is permitted in PA. in addition, The skyjacker 2 1/2" lift is very easy to do. I an not having any problems with doing it.

RKohn,

I'm sure the laws have changed here in MI, but back when I lifted my Chevy the law was 2" over stock, a 4" lift was too much. There were also bumper height requirements. Also at one time I believe the law differentiated between different GVW trucks. Since were are 8800 lbs we have a little different rules than the 1/2 tons. I wouldn't worry anyway, I don't know of any of my friends who have been pulled over for a lifted truck. The only people I have heard about getting pulled over had a unsafe looking trucks (you know the kind with 12" of lift and 31" tires).

Maybe the laws have changed?

Summary of lift laws

Petersen's 4-Wheel & Off-Road had a summary of lift laws in the December 2000 issue. It's pretty generic and most states base lift laws on frame/bumper or headlight height.

For Pennsylvania, it simply says no wheel spacers over 1/4" and the rear bumper must be within 30 inches of the ground. This may or may not be all-inclusive. Even the magazine said they had GREAT trouble trying to get all the information.

I also do not know of anyone who has had trouble with The Man. That is to say that they generally leave you alone for lifts within reason, but don't tempt them by acting like an idiot if you get pulled over for a burned out taillight. Lift away!

Heavy Duty Custom Coils

I just had National Spring in San Diego custom make me a set of heavy duty coils. They were about 1-2 inches longer than the stock ones as well. I have a 2000 lb Lance cabover camper that made the stock coils sag way down. Now it looks like it has a lift kit in it... . The best way to go IMO... added bilsteins too... a must...

Let me know if you want their number...

Lift 101

RGRAT,,Here in PA you'll never get a definate answer on your question because there are two many catch 22 laws that will prohibit your mod,,Some are used and some only when they need too,,Some of these wonderfull laws include, rocker panel height(no more than 2" difference between front and rear),bumper height from STOCK mounting position height(keyword here is stock height),headlight height(by this they have a law making only so much forward candle power at a certain height legal, except for plow packages and they can only be used in conjuction with the affor mentioned option),mudflap height angles(no more than x amount of height or angle between bottom of flap and ground) and since your looking at lifting your truck also consider this favorite one, tires must be inside of FACTORY wheel wells or only allowed to protrude 1/2 inch, which does not include the aftermarket fender flares and even if dealer installed,,I'm certain I have missed a few but, seems I've misplace some of my citations I've recieved from my lifted Ram I owned at one time, but it will give you the general scope of things,,If It was me I'd do it again and will,,They have a right to site me just as i have a right to lift my ride,,I kept all my citations for the most part so i had them to refer too in court apperances for references,,Remember this and you may ask your inspection mechanic about this,A NEW OFF THE LOT TRUCK,IF the mechanic sticks to the PA State inspection manual WILL NOT pass it.....

OH forgot to add the most recent citation I recieved not more than a week ago,,Local regional officer citated me for ride height and mudflaps on my stock height and tires current truck,,Only reason he stopped me was a rock I kicked from my rear tires BOUNCED off his windshield and upset him,did not break it or knick it,,Soo off I go to see the man again... .

I just bought but have not yet installed the Skyjacker 2-1/2" front coil "levling springs". How do you think they would compare to the custom coils you bought and if you don't mind me asking, how much did the custom springs cost? (Pardon my indiscretion)

I installed the Bilsteins in the rear but am awaiting the grade 8 studs and coupling nuts I ordered from MSC to lengthen the front shock studs to match the spring lift. The only shock stud extender I could find was SAE fine threaded and the Bilstein shock is 10mm X 1. 50 (metric) threaded. I suppose the better solution would either be a) longer Bilsteins (anyone got a part # ?) or b) lowered shock tower (anybody got one?) Other posts I have read suggest it is a lot of worry for nothing, that a couple of inches of lift is no big deal. Any opinions as to this?
