I get used to to waiting for the light to go out so every vehicle I get into I wait for the check engine light to go out before I start it.

Me too, Bad Dog. When I drive the wife's car up the hill to the house, I'll wait a minute or so before shutting down. Sometimes I realize it's not necessary, but usually not. Gotta wait for it to cool down!! It also gives the dogs more time to work themselves into a frenzy so that they can get paw prints on every part of the car, not just the doors and windows.

Some perkins I have seen had a nozzel in the the intake that squits fuel into the engine

Yea... these actually start a fire in the intake manifold to create the heat. I've seen quite a few in boats set up this way. Don't know why though... ... when the temp is cold enough to need that, I sure as H ain't going to be boating.

Do you guys think a glow plug or 2 in the intake horn set up to cycle like the grid heater would be effective if the grid heater coil was removed?

I ask because I have a mod in mind and I need the vertical space that the heater assembly takes.

And I have to run the truck every day in the winter. And I'm not a fan of ether, or starting fluid.
