A friend has a 2001 2500 4x4 w/over 200K on the clock. The CTD has a HARD time when cold moving at all for approx 10 minutes until heat registers on gauge.

A mechanic apparently tested the heater grids, says they work etc.

Once warm, its ok. Even when block heater is used in winter, same issue.

Any idea's???

if you put it into gear, it dies until it gets a little warm... No moving at all until engine temp rises. . Bizarre but that what the owner says.

I thought it was the grid heaters but some local mech in Fallon,Nv said they are ok...

Has he had his codes read? I used to have a 2000 and when the injection pump went south, it would make absolutely no power until it got over 140*. Then it was like turning on a light switch the power was instantly there. It also would develop a dead pedal if u kept the throttle at the same position for more than a few seconds. at first I thought it was the APPS but it tested ok. I cant remember exactly which codes my pump threw as there are several, I would check into that.
