Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Cold transmission trouble

My 2000 Ram has problems in temps of 5 and under.

While driving, the transmission seems to hesitate at

around 50mph and shifts in and out. (it is an auto) Problem only if

left outdoors more than 6 hours. Usually garage kept but

still a puzzle. Any ideas?

The computers prevent Torque converter clutch and overdrive operation when the trans fluid is below 59 deg F. Around 50mph is about when overdrive wants to shift in. Could be the fluid isn't quite up to temp yet and is bouncing back and forth between too cold and just warm enough when it happens.
