With all the threads a while back about the fast idle, my is enabled. This past week here in North Carolina has just brought winter. I did notice this week while leaving my CTD running for short periods while running into a couple of shopping places, with the fast idle OFF, the CTD would automatically increase the idle rpm for a very short time and then would slow down. It must be sensing the temp outside as below freezing. Is this Dodge design or my TST? You guys noticed this?

this is a dodge design... . but its not the manual high idle that the threads were addressing... ... the high idle that has to be enabled, is controlled by the cruise controls on the steering wheel

Truck is programmed to idle up when below certain temp to around 1000 RPM, I have the cruise control activated high idle. Works great, I live in Fairbanks Alaska and during December and January It is regularly -20 so I use the Cruise high Idle all the time, Dealer even hooked it up to my remote start. Would not live with out it. Remote start even has a programed option to alow for turbo cooling Idle. Turbo cooling idle allows the truck to stay on after a long haul with weight, and stays on for two minutes when I stop and leave it then shuts off automaticlly.

DHalbrroks,

Do you have the MOPAR remote starter? That's what I have and I would certainly like to be able to program a remote high idle and cool down.

I have an Ultra start, link below. I like this one since it has the picture of the vehicle and lets you know when it is started and how long it has left to run. Very handy if you park any distance away from your vehicle and do not have line of sight to ensure that it has started. The dealer already had it installed when I bought the Truck.

Thank you for the info. I'm not too happy with my MOPAR starter: the dealer is going to replace the module to see if that is the problem. You have to watch the truck to make sure it starts, unlike my wife's gas generic starter which cost much less. Also, when it is below 10* F it won't start, apparently because when it 'sees' low battery voltage it cancels the start process. The unit and installation was nearly $500. Not much good in my opinion.

If the new module doesn't fix this problem I will get a refund and install the one you have. Does it work with the Dodge anti-theft system?

Thanks again.

Thanks again.

They do sell one that works with the anti-theft. Just browse the web site, or call Genes Chrysler in Fairbanks, Alaska at 907-458-3200 and ask for parts. They should be able to answer you question and give you a model number. Any problems let me know I can stop by and acquire the info in person.

Thank you DHalbrooks.

I followed the link you provided and used the dealer locator to find a dealer here in Maine. The man knew what he was talking about and said, as you did, that the ultrastart is compatible with the Dodge security system. Very kind of you to offer to get the information there in AK. I would also think that cold weather starting is something you know about.

I don't think swapping the MOPAR modules will help but I will let the dealer try it. I think it is a design flaw. When I told the ultrastart installer in Palmyra, Maine, about the problem I was having he said he thinks my unit is seeing a low voltage from the battery (due to the subzero weather we've been having) and cancels the start sequence. He said the ultrastart can sense voltage or rpms and doesn't have this problem.

Thanks to you if this goes the way I think it will I will return the MOPAR unit and get the ultrastart. I thank you very much for your help!!!
