LOL well it actually does get cold here in northern CA beyond popular belief, but more than that I do tend to travel a lot like this week I will be heading to washington for a week, somtimes the sierras, and sometimes to colorado so it is one of those things I don't really "need" but I feel is a good thing to carry if and when it gets cold I am spoiled and don't like cold heat...

Is there any rule of thumb regarding ambient temeperature for selecting how many flaps to open, or do you just watch your temperature gauge all the time.

Anyone know the $$$$$$$ from Mopar Dealer

Foxxy, $99. 60 from BBC Dodge in Seattle - www.dodgeparts.com. It's been in the teens here and I've been running with two flaps open... no EGT issues, but the transmission temp seems to run about 20 degrees higher when I was stuck in stop and go traffic.

TMarzalek ... Thanks

Local Dealer wants $ 100. 00 so I guess he's in the ballpark,

time to order one I suppose.

I tried to get one from the dealer parts dept. in "03" when we started to get into colder weather but they didn't have any idea what I was talking about.

The best one I could find at that time was from the Alaska T. Co. , and I was a little leary about buying it sight unseen.

Ordered mine last week. Had to come from Denver and picked it up this morning. Installed in about 4 min. I like the fact you wouldn't know it's there unless you open the hood. $119. 00 from dealer.

Alaska Tent & Tarp, good local company with quality products. I have one of their winter fronts and in the summer I replace it with the screened version that snaps into the same fastener as the winter version.

How far down does the Factory Winter Cover? Does it block the air flow throught the bumper?

Yup, the three hooks displace the wire loom clips that install into the holes in the lower inside lip of the bumper. The two lower outside hooks attach to the bumper brackets. A bit of advice is to start at the bottom of the front, install the outside hooks and the bumper hooks and then stretch it up and over the hood latch and then route the flaps with the velcro under the wire loom. If you start on top, you end up being about 1/2" short to get the outside lower hooks engaged. Since most of us put them on when it is cold, the material doesn't really stretch and the situation makes you cuss and talk nasty about the directions that have no text. :D Be sure to press real firmly to attach the velcro to the radiator support - it is a psa (pressure sensitive adhesive) and it likes to be held firmly for 10-20 seconds before it will stay in place (longer if it cold out).

Does anyone know if the Mopar Part Number will fit an '06 model???

I'm not sure how many changes were made behind the grill!!!

Thanks,

Troy

why not just use cardboard with a hole in the middle?

Have you ever tried to get wet cardboard from in between the radiator and the intercooler. Cardboard doesn't like the wet snow.

Kory

no, i've never done it-i just think back to the old days when i used to see the farmers doing this (back before 100 buck fronts were fashionable).
