Well, I don't think my power steering pump was too happy starting this morning at 0 degrees. Now it's leaking fluid. Off to the dealer I go. :(

-20 This last Friday night up in the Tug Hill plateau of NY & yes my PS pump puked its guts out in the morning when I started it. How do you manage to get all of the factory fluid out when you change fluids? Also is it spec'd for Power Steering systems?

-42c this mornin. No block heater and only one pre cycle. She barked a bit and than ran like gold. Mind you the clutch, brakes and steering barely workd but thats god dam cold!!!!

Went to the "Swamp"(Montreal,Quebec)late last winter to visit with a friend and go sled riding up north above Drummondville. The truck was in sub zero temps all weekend long as temps dipped to near -30 at night. I never had any problems starting it as I had installed new batteries before my trip. Kept it full of fuel and additives and had synthetic oil in which definitely helped. One thing I learned that weekend was how much I disliked how cold it gets up there over the winter(you'd think after driving truck up there 3 years in a row I'd not have forgot that). As long as your batteries are fairly fresh and you allow them to recharge without turning off truck to soon you should be fine. Keep a good anti-gel in the fuel also to help prevent problems... ... ... ... ..... Andy

That beer thing is just plain ignorant! You were learned better than that. Next time you'll loose truck privledges for a week young man.

26 below!! Its sounded like it was going to fly apart. It was not happy. Two glow cycles put the throttle down about half way till it was running on all cylinders. Synthetic oil and good batteries help also!!!

Which winter was it -34 in Wasllia/Eagle River Alaska area. I heard it is so warm down there you grow banana's in the winter.

Iwas in Rainey Lake, Minnesota 10 years ago and they thought we rode motorcycles all year long cause it was 70 degrees in December and January. Its 10 degrees right now and my lift pump quit today.

Ive been left out in the cold in eureka. A little less oxygen to deal with too.

I decided to run 5 40 mobil 1 delvac this winter. I cannot begin to explain how much happier the engine sounds. Oil pressure comes up in 1/4 the time. If you love your truck. I recommend you switch.

Hell its already been in the -20s here in peters creek this winter and its not even febrrrruary yet. Last winter was a joke. The last 4 had been pathetic. This one appears to be on the right track. Just how I remember em. Glad we had good snow cover to keep the frost from going too deep. Lucky there.

Have you guys ever seen a temperature inversion. I left eagle river and headed up hiland. Back in my paper route days. When I pulled out of ER it was -10. When I got to the top of hiland It was almost 30 degrees. Nuts.

My problem is the 5 year old OEM batteries! Not the truck's fault of course!

When the beast and it's batteries were new, -10f, no problem.

At present, I am trying to make it past our (so far) mild Winter here in Central Indiana on the batteries. I plug it in according to the manual. Less than 40f. No problems.

I honestly think it's a good idea to follow the manual, and wouldn't mine being on the million mile engine list, if you know what I mean!

Matt
