Anyone seen this before? Filter has never been wet and is still pretty clean. It looks worse than what this pic shows. What's everyone running that is moving a decent amount of air? Thx

I have had the same afe system now for over a year, I havn't had any problems. Other than my filter minder goes into the red just as soon as you accelerate the truck once. It looks like you must of shut the cat in the filter the last time you closed your hood.

LOL maybe that's it. It does seem more than coincidental that it is right on top but for the life of me I don't remember doing anything like. I just had it off last week checking for boost leaks. Maybe it got smacked or something and I didn't notice it with the sock on. Thx

I'd love to, but there's no point in it now. All it would do is see how much power 26psi of boost can make. I have no power chips, boost foolers, or anything like that right now, so the M4s are pretty stuffed up.

I'm still debating where to go next, in terms of electronics. I've sworn off my EZ (and perhaps EDGE, too). The MAD ECM was awesome, but not as smooth as I would have hoped-- a little too quirky. That leaves the Van Aaken for non-wire tappers. Then there's the TST. I like the idea of the VA/TST stack, right now. I'm debating which to get first. It's hard to justify spending $950 on a stack that will just give what a $600 Comp does. I may just end up with a Comp and call it OK.

All the 4s have done for me now (aside from less smoke and better mpg) is make me VERY curious as to what untapped potential (pun intended) lies within them. The MAD ECM really whet my appetite!

EDIT: It's also probably not a good idea to dyno such an overfueled truck with a dead Pyro!

I have two AFE air filters that look just like the picture

I just thought that I got careless and leaned on it while I was doing work under the hood. My filter minder never moves since I put this filter on, so I don't think that it is being collapsed by the air flow.

If you but a small plastic trash bag over the filter to protect it while you spray down the engine compartment and forget it's still there and start the truck it was be as flat as a pancake. Totally useless.

I don't get the filter minder dealie. It has never moved since the truck was new. Granted I don't drive in dusty conditions but one would think that it might move a little afterwhile? I still don't think I smacked it as anal as I am under the hood. I clean the sock regularly so I doubt it was plugged enough to act like a plastic bag. BTW Bill that would be a big DOH lol! Have you had first hand experience at that :)

I'm going to keep an eye on it and see what happens. I guess I'm leaning towards it got smacked but on the other hand I can't think of when I would have done that over the last couple weeks. Thx for the input.

I took my AFE that looked exactly like that one off after something got past it and took out the blades on my hx-40. Cost me $440 to get that fixed. I dont think the filter actually collapsed it was just that way after I got it home from ATS after they did my transmission. So now I have a PG7 with a sock and a new HTB2. I wouldnt recommend anybody using the blue AFE stage 1 filter after what it did to my 40. Granted I did have it for a year and a half but it didnt get wet or even look dirty.

Haisleys has a ADD boost fooler for like 40 bucks at least you could see what those m4s got do to your turbo. :D

Mine looks like that a little too,i thought i leaned on it when i put my Advanced Thermo Protection blanket under my hood, who know how it happened but i will watch it from now on. HEY R-N- R,how do you like that hotrod vp,is it worth the extra $$$. When mine goes i was looking at that one. Regards----DW

Hay this may sound stupid but I just installed the stage1 in my 205 and I noticed in the photo you have the round stock filter minder on . How did you do that my setup does not have a hole for it Ski

Well, anything is possible I guess. I definitely didn't shut the hood on it but I have had it off a bunch lately so maybe it got smacked. I'll keep and eye on it ;)

Ski, mine came with a round hole already drilled.
