Colorado Emission Testing?

Hey guys,



looking at moving from california one day... I like colorado so far. However, i like owning lots of old cars how are they for owning pre 75 cars? what year is the exempt cut off?

I have a 1968 GTO and it is required to be tested in Arvada(a Denver suburb). I don't think all areas require testing. The only thing they did on mine was connect a pickup to the plug wire and put a probe in the exhaust. There isn't much else for testing and I did not have to put it on the dyno.

You can always go to classic plates. One emissions test and your done for 5 years then you just buy plates every 5 years. And thats for anything 25 years old or older.

Just move to an area of CA that doesn't require bi-annual smog testing. Part of the reason I went to Cal Poly, SLO was that at the time smog testing wasn't required... .

Can you get a built up prostreeter to pass the emmision test? no no to california, their gun laws suck, taxes are too high and im sick of not being around white people

As far as I know, Denver (metro) and Colo Spgs are the only ones doing E-testing anymore. I know Greeley, Loveland, and FtCollins quit a few years ago. You could also use a friend's address outside the emission area and tag the car(s) there. Not that I'VE ever done that. If they run ok, they should pass, though. Had a hack, gag, cough '84 626 that passed with flying colors. Not near as strict as some other areas.

Yea, we have had our share of the pine beetle problem too. When ya' get here just prepare yourself for a lot of "California" jokes. ... . and when ya' get the CTD, besure to get in touch with the RMTDR chapter- great bunch o' guys!
