Sandbrew and I both were thinking of a get together for one of the mid-May shooting tournaments.

One is in Eastern Colorado in Cheyenne Wells. It is a Machine Gun shoot, military weapons, 50 caliber guns, etc.

The other is more of a 50 cal oriented shoot, more of a competition for the sport. It is in Raton, NM at Whittington Center, an NRA shooting range.

Here is some more info on both!

Copied from my other post:

That is too funny, Sandbrew, I was just reading about that yesterday. I am trying to get into that hobby but can't afford a 50 cal right now. The one in Cheyenne Wells sounds good, however there is also one in Raton, NM, just south of the Colorado border. I am not sure which one I want to go to. Obviously I will go to the one everyone agrees upon for the TDR gathering, but the one in Raton is 10 miles further than Cheyenne Wells but Raton is closer in travelling time.

Here is some info:

The first link is match schedules, the second is the homepage of the Raton shooting range, Whittington Center.

The first schedule is Official Score Matches, the second is Combined . 50 BMG Fun Shoots.

I am assuming everyone was thinking of the May 14-16th competition. Not sure which event would be most fun, like I said they are about equal distances. One is East of Colorado Springs, the other just south of the Colorado border...

Let me know what you all think.

Nick

THANKS!

I would like to attend the "fun shoot" part but I'll have to check the calendar and see what is happening. I have never been to the Whittington Center so it would be fun to go.

I may be going to Montana Memorial Day to help a farmer with his Prarie Dog problems;)

If that happens that would be too much stuff in one month.

The Whittington center is awesome!!

I won a trip there a few years ago, it was a blast shooting on all their different ranges. The 1000 yd range was the most eye opening, as to how far that really is, and how inaccurate most guns are that far out.

I probably couldn't make it to either event, but I would suggest Raton hands down. If there were enough of you, you could rent one of the cabins on site.

I to suggest the Whittington center since I have shot there in the past. I'd be up for some shooting since my parents live in Trinidad which is on the way:D . Sounds like fun!!

One of the biggest benchrest matches in the West will be over Memorial Weekend at the Whittington Center. Will be shooting registered Light Varmint and Heavy Varmint at 100 and 200 yds. Called the "Best in the West" match. Come down to see some guns capable of shooting flys at 200 yds! Hope to see some TDR folks down for it.

The more you guys talk about it the more I want to go. Oo.

I just created a web page for posting dates for getting together. Tell me what you guys think... Fun2Shoot

You guys with dial-up tell me if it takes a while to load. I don't want this site to be a pain to go to. :)

Well maybe I want to to go Montana to shoot some S. E. R. T. s too!

Oh, SERT stands for Self-Erecting-Rifle-Targets, or prairie dogs :)

Its a tough call on which one I would like to go to. I guess we could take a vote?

Kirk,

Sweet site. It didn't too long to load as far as I can see. The only problem is the dates. There aren't any!

BTW-S. E. R. T. s LOL
