Did Cummins Change Timing Spec?

Slow service on a lift pump

I am quickly approaching the time to change transmission fluid and was wanting some feedback on a good transmission shop in the southeast Denver area. I live in Elizabeth so I would prefer to stay on the east side of town if I could. Also, is there someone in the area that has DTT upgrades?

Hope there is a good shop so I don't have to take it to the dreaded dealer.

Just got my EZ last weekend!!:D :D :D

Jman...

I know this sounds kinda flukey. . but I'd just take it to the dealer.

If you want to do it yourself, I'm totally willing to drive down your way and help you out. It's not that bad of a job, though I don't know how to get the fluid out of the stock Torque Converter.

As far as DTT upgrades... Got'm on my truck. . and boy am I lov'n it. I currenlty have Bill K's 91% TC and tricked out VB... and his Smart Controller teamed up with a pacbrake. Couldn't ask for more!!!

Let me know if I can help out any.

I do not know of a good trans shop in SE Denver but if you are just changing your fluid and filter it is a piece of cake. It does not take long to do and only requires a couple tools. You might think about getting an after market trans pan to make future drains significantly easier as the stock pan does not have a drain. I as well as many others are using MagHytecs transmission pans with big smiles. They are of top notch quality. Anyway I am in the process of moving to Castle Rock and as Kevin stated I also would be more than willing to help out if you want it. However I do not as of yet have the added goodies of Kevin's Ram equipped with the DTT parts. Maybe the three of us could get together I would love to see Kevins truck and see the DTT stuff in action up close and personal. Just email me if you want the help.

I'm there guys. . if would like to get together... just let me know.

I really think it's time to have another TDR meeting though. I'll talk to Big A and see if we can something planned.

Kev

Thanks guys!!! Just for the record I got a flyer on my windshield Saturday in Parker about a new Diesel Performance shop in Castle Rock. Haven't been there yet, but I might check it out this weekend just for the heck of it. It is right north of the Taco Bell I think, which ironically puts it real close to Castle Chrysler-Dodge. They have emissions testing, a dyno and must have a full blown shop because the flyer said something about a special on a gauge package.

Thought Barry might be interested in stopping in if he is moving to Castle Rock.

I only have 11,000 miles right now, but was thinking of changing it between 12,000 and 16,000 just for piece of mind. We'll see what happens between now and then, but I might just take you guys up on the offer. I am always ready and willing to learn from folks who know what they are doing!!:D

Jman

Jman, if you need assistance, give me a ring or e-mail me. I've been on the road, and made it home last night, so I'm still playing catch up on e-mails.

It is a simple procudure, and doing it yourself is a good learning experience, if you're up to it.

Any of you Colorado guys know of a reliable transmission shop in the front range area to get the DTT goodies installed at? I'm not anxious to tackle that one myself!

Thanks,

JimD

I know that we have an excellent installer in Greeley,CO. He has been trained by Bill K at our shop. And is able to due what ever your trans needs right down to rebuilds. He is also a TDR member. I don't have his phone # right know as I am at home. Will post it tomorrow for you.

Jim,

If you would like you can give me a call (303-885-2875, I don't want to put his phone number on here without his consent first) and I can get you in touch with the guy that Stefan is talking about. His name and handle on the TDR is Bob Berends. He is an awesome guy!!!

Hey Stefan... the reason I didn't bring up Bob earlier was just cause Jman was asking for someone in Southeast Denver... and Bob is a little ways away.

Jman (or anyone else) if you want to put in AMSOIL ATF in I have enough in the garage for 2 changes I think, I'll have to look tonight to be sure.

Thanks for all the info. Actually, Greeley isn't to bad for me as a lot of my wifes family lives up there. Maybe I will have to stop in sometime and visit with Bob. Does he have a shop in Greeley? I totally understand not posting his phone number, but if someone would e-mail me the name of his shop I can track it down.

Another question, if I go with the MagHytec pan should I go with the replacement or the double-deep? I hardly ever tow, but thought I would ask some opinions. It seems to me the stock pans should have drain plugs in them, what a thought.

Hey Fred, the EZ is awesome!!! I see why it is called an EZ, took me about 5 minutes and I was off on a test drive. :D :D :D :D

Jim,

I don't think you'll have a problem with that fire breathing diesel. Hey you might even double it.

Justin i'll shoot you an e-mail tomorrow with the #. About the pan I would go with the Double Deep Pan. Can't go wrong for an extra $35 over the regular mag-hyec pan. Bob even carries the pans. He does have a shop in greeley. And he's a heck of a nice guy too. :D

Where are the adjustment screws for line pressure and shift points? I was crawling around under it tonight and couldn't see them. Not real familiar with transmission's and don't have a clue what I am looking for. I don't want to mess with either, just would like to know where everything is so I can understand things better when they show up on the board.

bob is a good guy , very meticulous , he was at DTT when massdiesel and i were there .

jman , if you don't know what you are doing don't touch any of the adjustments other than checking the bands ... and even then maybe the first time would be best if you went to a shop . do you have a shop manual ? if not buy one , best 100 bucks you'll spend on the truck .

if you do any seroius off roading i would think twice about the double deep pan , you could bathe a small child in it , its huge , sticks down almost as low as the frame rail .
