Has any one here installed a Combo gauge? Specifically the Westach brand EGT/Boost gauge shown in the Genos catalog #43 and the Genos website. I want/need gauges and the dual gauge looks to be a spacesaver. Any input?

I have the Westach gage in a single pillar mount. It works great and comes with everything you need to install it - even the boost bolt that you usually have to pay extra for. The only thing I would change is the back-lighting. Light shines thru a hole in the corner and washes over the gage not thru the lettering like the factory gages. It does look ok though and with the white lighting, it's easy to read.

I don't like them, when I look over at a gage I like to know instintly what it's reading. They don't allow that, the swing is to small and so is the lettering. It might sound good, getting two for one, but I doubt if anyone would be happy with them, that is if you actually use,and viex them. If they are only for looks, or Bling. . Bling. . as the youngn's say, then who care anyway?

I guess I was editing my response when Ynot posted. I do like mine and find it easier to read the two gages at a glance than trying to quickly eye two separate gages. Westach is a very high quality aircraft gage manufacturer so quality is not a concern.

To each his own I guess

y-knot,have you ever owned them?I notice in your sig you run Autometer gauges. Are you just speculating or real life experience? Thanks,Mark.

I just put in the Westach boost/egt last week, using the single gauge pod from Genos. I like it a lot. Install took a couple hours, but was easy. Genos sends good instructions and everything you need to do the install. The only question I had was where to get the switched 12V to power the gauge and after searching here I found that the cigarette lighter works well. The only thing I added to the Genos kit was a couple drops of red loctite becuase tightening the boost bolt to only 12 ft lb made me nervous.

I don't have any trouble reading the gauge. I had three sepparate gauges in my last truck, and this one is no worse to read. Placement might have something to do with that though, becuase my individual gauges were in a pod on top of the dash, in the middle of the truck. The single gauge pod I used with the Westach puts this gauge in a good spot for readability, and it doesn't block my view of the road at all. I could imagine that this gauge would be harder to read if it were further away.

I guess I have one last comment. I used the green cap on the light inside the gauge and it is still too bright. I used the orange wire on the back of the light switch, and the light in the gauge does dim with the truck lights, but it is still much brighter than the rest of the lights at every setting. I'm going to put a resistor in the line to dim is down a bit.

I like my Westach combo gauges, their easy to read. Installation was simple and kit had all that was needed to make a complete installiation,as is most of Geno's products. I used the single gauge pod from Geno's.

I've had this gauge in my 2001 for over three years, and I don't have a clue what "y-knot" is talking about. It is very easy to read, and after awhile you will just be able to glance at them and know if your in the right range... ;)

I have 2 dual combo Westachs - the EGT/boost gauge and a pre-filter/post-filter dual combo fuel pressure gauge. You get lots of information in a small area. With some attention and care paid to the installation of the lighting kits, the night lighting is fine, even for an old man with failing night vision! :( ;) :D

I felt the lighting was too bright as well so I just backed the bulb and it's holder out the back of the gage a little. You can adjust it to any intensity you like this way.
