Come Visit Michigan - It's OK To Swear Here!

A couple of summers ago, there was a big story in the news around here about a guy who got ticketed for swearing in public, after falling (or getting thrown) from his canoe. Well. . after being convicted in court for the offense, he appealed and won. The Michigan Surpreme Court also repealed the 100+ year old law. So I guess it's OK to swear anytime you want to, in the state if Michigan.

You can swear all you want here, the cows and sheep dont' care! Met a guy from mish on Sunday. He had an '01 6sp, bright blue with black leather, sport package, what a swwwweeeet looking rig! He told me he was from Michigan and I said, "Doc?" He didn't know what I was talking about, thus I knew I was safe. (from what I don't know) He also had a Boss Hoss (motorcycle with a corvette engine) cool ride. I think I may have recruited him to the TDR, we'll shall see!

Why do we have a list of "bad" words anyhow? Isn't the whole concept of foul language a little childish? I understand the word "fanny" in England is considered foul language. It means the same thing as cootchypop here. The origin of forbidden words goes back to governments forbidding the use of foreign languages. Now it really gets childish. Some of our most vulgar words are simply common words or variations of words of other languages. When will we grow past such pettiness?

The funnest thing is a sheet from the FCC telling broadcasters what the y are NOT allowed to say. Kinda funny when you think it comes the government.
