Cometic hg and cut head compatible

I currently have a Fire-ringed head and studs that is two years old. Running 40psi max, I noticed coolant stains above the oil pressure regulator today. If I were to install a Cometic HG and ditch the firering setup, would my head be useable or junk?

Is your block cut for the fire rings as well?



I'd tend to think that you'd need a new head if you're running any HG and don't want to run rings of any kind. Or just use o-rings with the cometic gasket... there's a thought.
