Did anybody see the March 2006 issue of Hot Rod Magazine page #104? Cometic Gasket has joined forces with Garlock Helicoflex to produce what they call their new Phuzion technology head gasket. It's basically a MLS head gasket produced by Cometic with the traditional O-Ring being replaced by a Garlock Helicoflex Gas Filled O-Ring that installs seperately without any machining to the block or the head. I don't know if they will be available for the Cummins Diesel at this time. A sidebar in the article regarding availability states that the head gasket and gas filled o-ring are ordered as seperate components. The gas filled o-rings must be ordered by bore size, then Cometic will supply the rings along with a modified MLS head gasket. There is no mention of this yet on Cometic's web-site, but here's their link: www.cometic.com . Here's the link for Garlock Helicoflex: www.helicoflex.com . Looks interesting. Might be time to call Cometic and see if we can get a group buy going once the technology is proven. I wonder if the rings alone would be able to be used with a modified Cummins head gasket?
