I've done lots of searches and still confused about what 4" exhaust to get. I've got DD1's and an EZ. I'll upgrade to DD2's when I need to replace my clutch.

I would like firsthand impressions of the $425. 00 special for Jardine's 4" exhaust.

I called and talked to Jerry Jardine today and he said his system did not cause droning and some complaints were from the 12 valver crowd. However, when I searched, I did see several people complaining about droning and they ended up putting the resonator to eliminate the droning.

What is the real story? I don't want to buy and install this thing only to find out it will drone? Please let me know if this is a good

exhaust. I don't want any droning and I don't want to straight pipe for noise reasons.

Thanks in advance,

Charles

Jardine exhaust kicks a$$!!

See my sig... ...

I absolutely love it! As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What some poeple say is a "drone" is a bad a$$ aggressive tone to my ears. I absolutely love my Jardine and love the sound of it. You will not be disappointed!! :D Anybody else wanna back me up here?

Oh, one more thing. . Jerry Jardine said his mufflers are made by the same folks who make Magnoflow. When you consider that Magnflow wants 200. 00 just for the muffler, it makes this kit very reasonably priced. Can someone verify if Jardine sounds like a Magnaflow?

Jerry Jardine said his free shipping offer will be ending soon so I need to decide really quickly.

Thanks,

Charles

I have the Jardine 4" and love it, I live in the same county as Jerry so I took a lil road trip to his place and it was well worth it , I did buy the kit but opted to install it myself cuz to me thats half the fun, the hard part was getting the old crap off, I tried to salvage it (why I dont Know) after I got it off it sat around for 6 months and got trown away, anywho the new Jardine fit great and was a joy to work with, I love it and have no drone just the best exhaust around.

The coolest part is when we got to Jerrys he was bone dry on stock so he made one for me on the spot, this definatly is not his first rodeo, it looks like Jerry does this in his sleep. :D :) :D

Love it. No droning. I've got a chassis cab, and I put it on before I had a bed, so it was pretty loud. No droning though. Still no droning after putting a 11' steel diamondplate flatbed on it. Jerry was even willing to include some extra pipe to make up for my odd extra-long wheelbase.

Is the 4" Jardine louder than stock? Yep! :D

Does it drone? I dunno - define "drone". When under load pulling our 5ver, you can definitely hear it in the cab at 2200 RPM (65 MPH with 4. 10's). For that matter, with the BHAF, you can hear the turbo whine change pitch with each hill as well. I guess what might drive some people nuts is music to other people's ears. Hey, I can still hear the stereo, and the wife and dogs seem to sleep through it, so I can live with it.

By the way, the muffler is a Magnaflow - says so right on it. The 4" exhaust, in combination with the Edge EZ, boost elbow and BHAF, dropped our maximum EGTs while towing by 200 degF, increased fuel mileage by 10% and increased mid-range power a bunch - how can you beat that?

I also made a little road trip over to Jerry's and let him and Matt install mine. Real nice system, no drone what-so-ever, and a deeper tone that sounds really  Good guys to BS with to boot! Good luck on your choice, Doug

Put mine on year and half ago. Never looked back. Does it drone? Well, with 4. 10's, I got a "sweet spot" at about 70mph where it seems a bit loud. That comes in handy to get someones attention:rolleyes: I don't remember what muffler I have.

For removal of the old system; if you have a firewrench to get things cherry red fine. Otherwise, a sawzall make it a quick job.

Plan on using that same wrench or MAPP gas on the down pipe and the two bolts holding it.

Can't remember where I saw it but there was a picture of the stock exhaust side by side with the Jardine and to me its a no-brainer, I felt like I did my CUMMINS the best favor in the world by taking the OEM crap off, I think she breaths much easier now:) ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..... Kevin

buy it!

Great sound. Great price. The system fits with no alterations or cutting except maybe to get the factory system off. IMO you can't beat it anywhere. LOL in your decision.

Thanks for the inputs.....

I think you guys pretty much made up my mind. At this price it is very hard to beat and the quality seems to be very good. I had a chance to shoot the bull with Jerry and he seemed to be very knowledgeable about his exhaust.

I'm going to order mine tomorrow. Jerry said the free shipping offer will be ending soon so you might want to order your Christmas present for the Cummins soon. ;-)

Thanks again for the input... .

It is definitely louder than stock at 70 or 75 MPH. I agree with Rusty, at what point would you define a drone. It seems a little loud at 75 but it is a good loud. Some dynamat or similar product would be a good addition. Next... ... injectors.

ya know, you can ride this horse tell the cows come home. you can kick the road apples down the road, those of us that have them, will not lead you astray, this guy has done his home work, he has tested and tested, and for what you get you can'nt beat it. call him and have him ship it. its a terrific price, and a great product. just my pennys worth.

I have the Jardine exhaust,I love the sound, but with 4. 10's i do have a nasty drone on the highway, form 66 mph,to 77mph,unfortunately this is the speeds I cruise at. I also have a bad vibration at idle, the entire system vibrates, all the hangers are on,all clamps tight. I would like to add another muffler, just to get rid of the drone, but otherwise i love it.

Had the drone........

Resonator cleared it right up. It's a 4" straight thru resonator so it doesn't hurt the performance or the wonderful sound of the system. The price is right too. The resonator is a Magnaflow also so I know it's a good product.

As a suggestion though I would use strap clamps on the system and just use Jardines hangers. Snug the hangers up but don't crush the pipe. That way if you do have to yank it apart it's no problem.

Garrett

Garret, where did you get the resonator, and how much was it?Thank you. Id really love to clear up the drone, without killling the sound,or turbo whine.

I got it from Jardines.....

Called up and complained so they shipped it out. I don't know if I should discuss their price on here. E-Mail me and I'll let you know.

It is a Magnaflow product so it should be available through any of their distributors. I wish I would have written down the model #.

I have also heard of people putting a second muffler on and clearing it up that way. My personal opinion is opposite of the one above. I think you should mount the muffler as far forward as possible and break up the long pipe run. It's the pipe that resonates. Or possibly a hanger somewhere in that stretch would help too. I know they want the muffler in the back to take advantage of the stock hanger positions. But the resonator or second muffler goes forward anyway. Thats why I recommended the strap clamps above. They don't damage the pipe and would allow you to swap positions if necessary.

My 2¢ worth on drone,

Garrett
