when it comes to "bombing" , their appears to be an advantage to the common rail system if i have been paying attention. since there is high pressure fuel always available directly at the injector and the injectors are fired electronically, it is only necessary to increase the duration of the electrical signal to increase fueling. that plus changing the timing of the injection event can give substantial increases. this will only help to a given point. beyond that point, higher flow rate injectors are necessary along with turbo and other changes. as far as our fuel pumps go, i am not sure how much high pressure flow beyond factory rates they can handle, but it seems obvious from the claims of the new "boxes" coming out, that it is considerable.
the end result as far as i see right now, is that we will not need to do any pump mods till we get way up in HP/torque. i havent read any threads on pump bombing on gen 3 trucks. is there anything we could even do to them other than raise pressure?
