I can hear them dura-turds stressing from here..... :-laf

Your not really worried about some liteweight pretender are you guys?

Some of you guys out there sound worried

Wonder how long @ 800 h. p. them durafarts last? :-laf

One never knows ... . step up to 900 and BOOM :--)

I'll take my heavy lil 6 cylinder any day :-laf

Please don't even think about trying to say that the Fuds are close behind either

Ask Clint at ATS how well the rods hold up. CRUNCH!

Stock short blocks compared, Cummins is way over engineered. The D-Max is scary how well they run with some simple changes. I think that this year, Hp to Hp, it will be close. Now CI to CI, more power from the Cummins.

I'll make a prediction here , in a few years the Duramax will be the motor to beat in drag racing. Banks Duramax makes over 800 hp in a road racing tune, on diesel alone. lest anyone forget Top fuel motor have aluminum heads

I hear ya...

At this saturdays dyno event, A 02 or so duramax with ONE chip hit 457 hp

I was like  - ONE CHIP!! - no more (that he would tell about)

As far as long block goes, no one can touch the Cummins. Remember the picture of the connecting rods laying side-by-side? 6. 5L chevy, 7. 3L ford and the HUGE 5. 9L CUMMINS!! I wore that picture out in our shop, no one understood 'medium-duty egine' vs light-duty pickup truck engine until they saw the pic!

I've seen some different numbers, 600-650 for HX35, 700-750 for HX40, 850 for HX55. My Pius special was 1250 at a pressure ratio of 3 (about 29 psi). Now that is an important point, because boost pressure and temperature are significant factors. For example, what might be the cfm of my Pius special (now Ob1kobi's) at 55-60 psi? Where would it fit in the list?
Nonetheless, your efforts are quite useful. Lets see if more data can be found.

Joe I now have your old MSB And here are some flow #'s Pius gave me

48. 5PSI 69% Comp. Eff. 890CFM
30 PSI 64% Comp. Eff. 1275CFM
24 PSI 60% Comp. Eff. 1260CFM

Max Peak Comp. Eff. 79. 2% @19 PSI

Comp-

Does this mean you'll be switching to a dura too?

:-laf :-laf :-laf :-laf :-laf :--)

I guess so..... :-laf

Thanks for the info on the HX-55. I'm just looking for a cheap upgrade. Thanks for the link to PDWI didn't know about the sale on turbos. This what I figure will be the best choice for my truck. Tell me if there is a better choice. PhatShaft 62 Retail: $1395. 00 SALE: $1100. 00. Not as much of a savings as the 66, but good on the street.
